Overview
The VIAVI NSC200-GPON-XGSPON-PRO is an orderable package of the Network & Service Companion (NSC-200), a compact hand-held test device without a screen. It combines PON, Ethernet and WiFi test interfaces with VIAVI OneCheck applications for network validation and multi-gig service activation testing by frontline technicians and installers.
This package includes GPON, XGSPON, Ethernet, WiFi, SpeedCheck 1G and Speedtest 1G. The PON interfaces emulate an ONU/ONT using VIAVI GPON and XGSPON SFPs and report PON activation state, power levels, PON ID and ODN class according to ITU-T G.984, G.9807 and G.988 standards, so that PON service delivery can be confirmed before troubleshooting the premises.
Ethernet testing covers 10M to 10G interfaces with frame, IP connectivity, ping, traceroute, web connectivity and speed tests. WiFi testing includes WiFi Expert passive analysis up to WiFi 6 and OneCheck WiFi connected-mode tests up to WiFi 5 3x3, reporting coverage, channel noise, airtime and throughput, with recommendations when performance is below expectation. The NSC-200 platform supports throughput tests up to 10 Gbps through additional speed test options.
Workflow and connectivity
The unit is operated over Bluetooth from the VIAVI Mobile Tech app on Android or iOS devices, or from the ONX-580 and ONX-CATV instruments. Job Manager organises jobs, test results and reports; reports can be generated on board and submitted through StrataSync or by email. VIAVI Fusion can use NSC units as remote-controlled test agents.
