Overview

The VIAVI E41CWDM10U is the CWDM10U version of the 4100-Series CWDM OTDR modules for the T-BERD/MTS-2000, -4000 V2 and -5800 platforms. It covers 10 CWDM wavelengths from 1431 nm to 1611 nm and is used to deploy, maintain and troubleshoot CWDM fiber networks, including C-RAN, DAS and mobile fronthaul links.

The module tests through MUX/DEMUX to perform end-to-end link characterization at the exact CWDM wavelengths. In-service testing capability and automatic traffic detection allow new wavelength routes to be tested and faults to be located without disrupting traffic on active channels.

An integrated continuous wave light source operates at the same wavelengths as the OTDR, with CW and modulated modes for end-to-end continuity verification. Combined with the E41CWDM8U or E41CWDM10L modules, the family covers 18 CWDM wavelengths in two modules.

Analysis and reporting

On the T-BERD/MTS platform, testing features include automatic multitest configurations, a summary results table with pass/fail analysis, FastReport onboard report generation and optional Smart Link Mapper (SLM), which converts the OTDR trace into icons for splices, connectors and MUX/DEMUX. The module can be paired with the COSA-4055 CWDM spectrum analyzer module to measure wavelengths and power levels of active CWDM channels.
