Overview

The VIAVI OneExpert DSL ONX-580A is the service-focused model of the OneExpert DSL (ONX-580) family, a modular field test platform for deploying residential broadband over xDSL, G.fast and FTTH. The family is offered in three models: the service-focused ONX-580A, the standard ONX-580 with copper and service testing, and the ONX-580P for advanced copper and service test. All models can support FTTH and WiFi testing.

The instrument uses a multi-touch interface and OneCheck automated tests that present pass/fail results. A DSL sync test characterizes link quality, including bandwidth rates, margins and errors such as CRC, FEC, LOS, LOF and LOM, and helps determine whether issues originate in the CPE, the DSLAM/DPU port or the profile settings.

Modular design

DSL capability is provided by replaceable test modules based on Broadcom chipsets, covering ADSL, VDSL2 including bonding, vectoring and Profile 35b, and G.fast up to 212 MHz depending on the module. Software can be upgraded and enhanced in the field.

Service and connectivity

Throughput can be verified with TrueSpeed (RFC-6349), Ookla, VIAVI SpeedCheck and Broadcom speed test options. Fiber tests are available via accessories, and WiFi scanning is built in. The unit is StrataSync enabled for cloud-based asset, configuration and test data management, and the OneExpert app allows remote control from mobile devices.
