VIAVI FV Benchtop Microscopes (FVAi-2030, FVAi-2400, FVDi-2400) Fiber Connector End-Face Inspection Series

The VIAVI FV benchtop microscopes are built for manufacturers and users of optical connectivity. They find contamination and defects on fiber connector end-faces at every stage of manufacturing. All models share a common form factor, user interface and analysis platform. Each model has dual magnification, automated end-face analysis and an integrated 3.5-inch color touch-screen LCD.

2030: 30x inspection

The FVAi-2030 uses 30x optics with an ultra-wide field of view and automatic focus. It shows the entire ferrule end face, so contamination on or near the fiber can be found. With SL series FMAX adapters and Shaped-Lighting technology, the polished area and the surrounding chamfer appear in one image. FiberChekPRO adds Chamfer Focus, Automated Polish Zone Detection and advanced analysis parameters for checking how well cleaning worked.

2400: 400x inspection

The 2400 models use 400x optics and a high-resolution field of view. They check polish quality and certify connectors to IEC-61300-3-35. Automated IEC test analysis runs at the press of a button. The models ship from the factory with standard analysis profiles. FVAi-2400 models have auto-focus and FVDi-2400 models use manual focus. The -L versions have long-working-distance optics for jobs such as inspecting pinned MPO connectors.

Software and connectivity

FiberChekPRO software adds user-configurable analysis parameters and the Scratch-View image enhancement. It also provides automation APIs, Job Mode for grouped multi-fiber tests, and report generation in print and HTML formats. A USB Type B port connects the microscope to a PC. Two USB Type A ports accept external devices such as the P5000i probe and the MP-60 power meter, and a VGA port drives an external display.
