VIAVI FVAi-2400 400x Auto-Focus Benchtop Fiber Inspection Microscope

The VIAVI FVAi-2400 is a member of the FV Benchtop Microscopes family, a range of inspection microscopes for manufacturers and users of optical connectivity. FV microscopes detect contamination and defects on fiber connector end-faces and share a common form factor, user interface and analysis platform across configurations.

The 2400 configuration uses 400x optics with a high-resolution field of view and dual magnification. It is intended for high-resolution applications such as confirming polish quality and certifying connector quality, and for inspection to the IEC-61300-3-35 standard. The FVAi-2400 adds auto-focus capability, whereas the FVDi-2400 models use manual focus.

Automated IEC test analysis allows operators to test end faces against industry standards such as IEC-61300-3-35 at the press of a button; 2400 microscopes ship from the factory with standard analysis profiles. User-configurable parameters in FiberChekPRO software extend testing beyond the standards for customer-specific requirements and polishing process refinement, and the Scratch-View image enhancement feature makes faint scratches more clearly visible.

Software and connectivity

The microscope has an integrated 3.5-inch color touch-screen LCD with an icon-based user interface, a USB Type B host port for PC connection, two USB Type A device ports for external devices such as the P5000i probe or MP-60 power meter, and a VGA port for an external display. FiberChekPRO software adds automation APIs for integration into PC-based applications, a Job Mode for grouping pre-configured tests by multi-fiber cable or work order, and report generation in digital, print and interactive HTML formats.
