Overview

The VIAVI FVAi-2400-L is a member of the FV Benchtop Microscopes family, which is used by optical connectivity manufacturers and users to verify that fiber connector end-faces are clean and free of defects. VIAVI lists the FVAi-2400-L as a benchtop microscope with an integrated LCD, auto-focus, 400x magnification and long-working-distance (LWD) optics.

The 2400 microscopes use 400x optics with a high-resolution field of view, dual magnification and automated end-face analysis. They are designed to inspect optical connector end-faces for quality and performance and to support compliance with the IEC-61300-3-35 inspection standard. 2400 microscopes ship from the factory with standard analysis profiles, so operators can run automated IEC tests at the press of a button.

FVAi-2400 models have auto-focus, while FVDi-2400 models use manual focus. According to the datasheet, long-working-distance optics are used in applications such as inspecting pinned-MPO connector end-faces.

Software

The microscope works with FiberChekPRO software. The software adds user-configurable analysis parameters, Scratch-View image enhancement to make faint scratches more visible, automation APIs for integration into PC-based applications, Job Mode for grouping pre-configured tests, and report generation in digital, print and HTML formats.
