Overview

The VIAVI OneExpert HFC ONXF-730-PON-42-85-SWX is a new-unit package in the OneExpert HFC (ONX-720/730) family. It combines the ONX-730 mainframe with a PON selective optical power meter, a visual fault locator, optical loss mode and the ONX-CATV-D31-S-4285-1012 DOCSIS 3.1 module (42/85 MHz upstream, 1.0 GHz/1.2 GHz downstream). It ships with the ONX 730 SWX software package.

The OneExpert HFC tests DOCSIS, Ethernet, PON and WiFi 7 throughput up to 10 Gbps. VIAVI Test Process Automation (TPA) gives technicians one-button OneCheck workflows that return pass/fail results for Ethernet, WiFi, PON and DOCSIS, and the saved results are geo-tagged.

Optical testing

The selective power meter measures coexisting PON wavelengths separately through a dedicated SC/APC port. An optional TruePON option reads the PON-ID to confirm the connection to the expected OLT and checks total optical loss and received power against the ODN class. The unit also supports a USB fiber inspection scope with Auto Analysis.

DOCSIS and RF

The ONX-730 keeps the RF and DOCSIS test functions of the earlier ONX-620/630 and supports existing RF modules. It covers downstream QAM and OFDM analysis, upstream ingress scanning and forward and reverse sweep with the SCU-1800.

Design

The unit has an IP54 rating and a drop-tested, modular design. Upgrade paths support 25G/50G PON and DOCSIS 4.0. It includes GPS, StrataSync and mobile app connectivity, and a field-replaceable 96 Wh battery is rated for multi-day use.
