Overview

The VIAVI MAP-220C is a compact, 2U, two-slot modular chassis in the MAP-200 Multiple Application Platform family. It is designed for general fiber-optic lab use and smaller optical manufacturing test-station deployments, supporting optical test switching and signal conditioning applications.

The chassis hosts the MAP-200 LightDirect modules, a subset of the MAP-200 module range focused on light sources, optical power meters, optical switches and variable optical attenuators, including the mOSW optical switch, mVOA attenuator, mTLG and mSRC light sources and mOPM power meters. For larger deployments VIAVI positions the three-slot MAP-230B and eight-slot MAP-280 chassis, which support all released MAP-200 modules.

Configurations

The MAP-220C is available in benchtop, front-fiber-exit rack-mount and rear-fiber-exit rack-mount configurations. The benchtop unit has flip-up feet, can be stacked, and its orientation-sensing touch screen allows horizontal or vertical placement. Each unit is half of a 19-inch rack wide, so two units can be mounted side by side in a standard cabinet; conversion kits are available between benchtop and rack-mount formats.

Control and Maintenance

Local operation uses a capacitive touch screen with swipe navigation, so a PC is not required for basic use. Remote control is via LXI-certified Ethernet, with VNC and remote log-in available, and an optional field-installable GPIB interface. Remote interfaces are interoperable with the other MAP-200 chassis and are backward compatible with legacy SB and SC switches. The combined power supply/controller module is field-replaceable to reduce maintenance downtime.

Key Features

  • Two-slot chassis in a compact 2U benchtop format
  • Converts to rack-mount configurations, 2 RU high and one-half of a 19-in rack wide for side-by-side mounting
  • Front or rear test access to optical interfaces
  • Horizontal or vertical chassis placement on bench or in rack
  • Capacitive touch-screen GUI with orientation sensing
  • LXI-compliant Ethernet interface with optional GPIB
  • Backward compatible to legacy SB and SC switches
  • Field-replaceable controller/power-supply module
  • Pop-up front and rear feet with bumpers for stacking
  • Hosts MAP-200 LightDirect modules: light sources, power meters, switches and attenuators
