Overview
The VIAVI FVAM Series is a line of benchtop fiber-connector microscopes for optical labs and production environments. The microscopes automate end-face inspection of multifiber connectors such as MPO, MT ferrules and pluggable devices such as optical transceivers, including focus, panning and pass/fail analysis against IEC 61300-3-35 or customer-specific acceptance criteria.
FVAM-1000 Series
The FVAM-1000 series is an all-in-one inspection and analysis system for MPO and other multifiber connectors. It inspects and analyzes every fiber of the connector automatically, and VIAVI states a 12-fiber MPO connector can be tested in under 20 seconds. It can run on its own, with an optional on-board 2.5 in color touchscreen for live images, results and test configuration, or connected to a PC running FiberChekPRO. Interchangeable magnetic FMAG series adapters handle different connector configurations, and each adapter covers both SM (angled polish) and MM (flat polish) connectors.
FVAM-2000
The FVAM-2000 is the newest model in the line, built for inspecting pluggable optical transceivers with or without long pull tabs. It uses dedicated FMBT adapters with an auto-ID chip, which lets the microscope set its connector and optical settings automatically and recall the last analysis profile. A rotating adapter head and angled adapters (in-line, 60° or 90°) help clear pull tabs and other obstructions on dual MPO and VSFF transceivers. A PanOptic imaging engine captures a wide field-of-view image of the whole ferrule and high-magnification images of each fiber.
Software
The FVAM-2000 is controlled by the FiberChekULTRA PC application. It is the successor to FiberChekPRO and adds a manufacturing mode for entering serial numbers and operator data, reporting, annotations on images, and an open REST API for integration into automated test workflows.
