Overview
EVOIA Drive Test is a VIAVI solution for validating, testing and optimizing mission critical communications (MCx) and railway telecom networks used in public safety, transportation, utilities, maritime and airport communications. It is used for network acceptance as well as for ongoing testing and optimization of networks already in operation.
The system tests network radio coverage, automatically or on demand, and identifies interference issues. Data is collected with equipment installed in racks on test vehicles, with portable trolleys or with backpacks, depending on requirements. Test runs can be conducted as single events or as part of a regular schedule, in manual or unattended mode. Radio measurements are geo-positioned from GPS and time synchronized, and all results are displayed in EVOIA Assure, the VIAVI monitoring and troubleshooting platform.
Railway and MCx networks
EVOIA Drive Test supports GSM-R/ETCS-specific requirements such as GSM-R mobile support, UIC testing methodologies and geo-located measurements in tunnels, and automates tasks such as UIC test sets and interference and inter-modulation analysis. VIAVI states support for GSM-R until 2040 and readiness for FRMCS, so operators can verify their networks before, during and after the migration from GSM-R to FRMCS. The solution also covers 4G and mission critical services (MCPTT, MCVideo and MCData) and offers 5G testing.
Hardware platforms
The family comprises the BPACK-EER19 backpack for pedestrian operation, the TCMR-NG transportable trolley for test trains and portable use, the HTB-EER19 unattended 19 in. unit for test or commercial trains, and the R-RSP-ISTDx1y ISDN responder unit, which terminates mobile-originated voice and data calls at the MSC side to complete an end-to-end GSM-R test setup. It is available as a standalone solution or as part of a combined solution, with training, support and maintenance packages.
