Overview

The VIAVI IFR6015 is a compact, lightweight and weatherproof flight line test set for transponder Modes 1, 2, 3A, C and S, TCAS I and II, military E-TCAS and TIS, as well as DME/TACAN systems. IFF Modes 1 and 2 and TACAN are standard on all new units. The NSN is 6625-01-574-2423.

Test methods

For radiated testing, the IFR6015 comes with a lightweight, fully sealed directional antenna that can be mounted on the test set, held by hand or mounted on a tripod. For direct-connect testing, the unit connects to the unit under test through its RF I/O port using the supplied RF coax cable. Isolated testing is possible with an optional single or dual coupler kit for diversity systems.

TACAN test set emulation

The test set includes preset modes that emulate established TACAN test sets: Generic DoD, AN/ASM-663, AN/ARM-184, and Bradley 2650 and 2655.
