Overview

The VIAVI SmartPocket V2 OMK-3xV2 optical test kits are pocket-sized, rugged instrument sets for installing and maintaining single mode (SM) and multimode (MM) fiber optic networks. Each kit combines an optical power meter with a dual- or quad-wavelength optical light source for power level measurements, insertion loss measurements and continuity checks.

The OMK-38V2 kit uses SmartPocket V2 instruments, which are designed for outdoor use and low power consumption. The instruments switch on instantly without boot time. A backlit graphical display with context-sensitive softkeys, a no-setup OptiChek measurement mode, Auto-λ and Multi-λ modes and pass/fail indication simplify routine testing.

Data handling and power

The power meter stores more than 1,000 test results, which can be transferred to a PC over USB-C or uploaded via Bluetooth Low Energy to the VIAVI Mobile Tech application and StrataSync. The instruments can be powered by alkaline AA batteries, NiMH AA rechargeable batteries, an AC power adapter or power over USB. The recommended calibration interval is three years.
