Overview

The VIAVI SmartPocket V2 OLP-3xV2 family consists of pocket-sized broadband power meters for measuring optical power levels and loss in fiber networks. Used together with VIAVI SmartPocket V2 optical light sources, they perform insertion loss and continuity testing in single mode and multimode networks.

The family has three models. The OLP-35V2 (InGaAs detector) is intended for standard telecommunication networks and multimode or single mode applications. The OLP-35SC offers the same capabilities with a fixed SC adapter. The OLP-38V2 (filtered InGaAs detector) is a higher-power version measuring up to +26 dBm, intended for CATV HFC systems with analogue RF transmission and amplified DWDM systems.

The meters switch on instantly with no boot time and use a backlit graphical display with context-sensitive softkeys. The no-setup OptiChek measurement mode, Auto-λ and Multi-λ modes when paired with SmartPocket V2 light sources, and pass/fail indication are provided. Fiber tracing is supported by detecting tones generated by SmartPocket V2 light sources.

Results can be stored on the instrument and transferred to a PC via USB-C, or uploaded over Bluetooth to the VIAVI Mobile Tech App. The meters run from alkaline or NiMH AA batteries, an AC power adapter or USB power, and have a recommended recalibration interval of three years.
