Overview
The NSC200-XGSPON-PLUS is an ordering package of the VIAVI Network & Service Companion (NSC-200), a compact, screenless hand-held test device for installing and repairing residential and business services. This package combines XGS-PON testing with Ethernet testing and the VIAVI SpeedCheck 1G and Ookla Speedtest 1G throughput applications.
For XGS-PON, the unit uses a VIAVI XGSPON SFP for ONU/ONT emulation and reports PON activation state, power levels from the SFP, PON ID and ODN class according to ITU-T G.9807 and G.988. This allows technicians to confirm PON service delivery before troubleshooting the premises network.
The Ethernet interface supports IEEE 802.3 rates from 10M to 10G and reports Ethernet frames, IP connectivity, ping, traceroute, web connectivity and speed test results. Tests are run through the automated OneCheck workflow, which is designed to make network validation quick for both new and experienced technicians.
Operation and Data Management
The NSC is operated from a smart device over Bluetooth using the VIAVI Mobile Tech app. Job Manager organises jobs, test results and reports, and reports can be submitted through StrataSync or shared directly by email. Further test capabilities such as WiFi, TrueSpeed, iPerf, loopback and higher-rate speed tests are available as options.
