Overview
The VIAVI Network & Service Companion (NSC-100) is a compact handheld device with no screen. It combines PON, Ethernet and WiFi test interfaces with VIAVI OneCheck applications for network validation and service activation testing. Results are viewed on a smartphone or tablet through the VIAVI Mobile Tech app over Bluetooth.
The NSC100-PLATINUM-10G package is the most complete NSC-100 configuration. It includes GPON, Ethernet and WiFi testing, SpeedCheck, Ookla Speedtest and TrueSpeed (RFC-6349) throughput tests up to 2G, L2/L3 loopback up to 10G and a TWAMP reflector.
Service activation and troubleshooting
The unit tests Ethernet at Layers 2, 3 and 4. It runs active throughput tests to identify throughput problems that affect customers. It can validate business services on its own, or act as a remote loopback device with the T-BERD/MTS-5800 for Y.1564 and RFC 2544 tests. In passive mode, the WiFi Expert function reports coverage, channel noise and airtime, and gives recommendations when performance is below expectation.
Workflow and remote operation
Job Manager organizes jobs, test results and reports. Reports can be sent through StrataSync or by email. VIAVI Fusion can control NSC units remotely as test agents for long-term monitoring, root cause failure analysis and SLA monitoring.
