Overview
The NSC100-GPON-PRO is a standard PON package of the VIAVI Network & Service Companion (NSC-100), a compact handheld test device with a screenless design. This package combines GPON, Ethernet and WiFi test capabilities with the VIAVI SpeedCheck 1G and Ookla Speedtest 1G throughput tests.
The NSC-100 lets technicians and contractors validate both the network and service layers before sharing test results with customers and providers. One-button 'OneCheck' tests return results on a single screen and run in under one minute, giving a clear demarcation between PON service delivery and in-premises distribution over Ethernet and WiFi.
In the GPON role the unit emulates an ONU/ONT through a VIAVI GPON SFP and reports PON activation state, power levels, PON ID and ODN class according to ITU-T G.984 and G.988. WiFi testing covers connected-mode OneCheck WiFi up to WiFi 5 3x3 and passive WiFi Expert analysis up to WiFi 6, including coverage, channel noise and airtime, with recommendations when performance is below expectation.
Workflow and connectivity
The device is operated from a smartphone or tablet over Bluetooth using the VIAVI Mobile Tech app. Job Manager organizes jobs, test results and reports, and reports can be submitted through StrataSync or sent directly by email.
