VIAVI MAP-2800 Rack-Mount Ethernet and BER Test Head up to 800G

Data centers replicate data to other sites over high-performance network links to protect against data loss. Keeping those links at full performance, and demonstrating it against SLAs, requires regular Ethernet and Bit Error Rate (BER) testing at line rates up to 800G, as well as testing of OTN, WDM, Fibre Channel and SONET/SDH circuits. Many data centers have few or no technicians on site to carry out this testing.

The VIAVI MAP-2800 lets data center operators and network service providers run high-performance BER tests securely and remotely, including at unmanned sites, so link quality can be verified without dispatching a technician. Service providers can use it to test 400G/800G services across their fibre optic backbone to other service providers or data center operators.

Integration with the VIAVI portfolio

The MAP-2800 works with the VIAVI field test instruments, including the ONA-800, NSC-200, ONX and T-BERD/MTS-5800. It can also act as a centralized 400G/800G test head in the Fusion Ethernet test system, alongside virtual test agents and Smart SFPs. A Dual 1x4 Optical Switch can be added to the hardware configuration as an option.

Deployment

The unit is a compact 1.5U, 19" rack-mount design, with 21" and 23" kits available. Remote management supports unattended transmission-quality testing of data center, central office and submarine cable network links. The dual power supply and fans are field-replaceable.
