Overview
The VIAVI SmartClass 4800 is a handheld test instrument for business services installation teams. It is used to verify that data and voice services meet their expected key performance indicators (KPIs).
The instrument tests electrical and optical Ethernet links as well as T1 and E1 interfaces, so technicians can cover the common business-class interfaces with one unit. Voice service quality can be tested whether the service is delivered over VoIP or PRI.
The SmartClass 4800 is intended for use across the service life cycle, including service activation, troubleshooting and maintenance. Its Ethernet test features include TrueSpeed TCP throughput testing per RFC 6349 and J-Profiler traffic analysis.
For field use, the unit has a multi-touch screen, scripted workflows and clear result presentation, which support repeatable methods and procedures. It works with VIAVI fiber microscopes and optical power meters.
