Overview
The VIAVI E8129D-62 is the 1550/1625 nm dual-wavelength member of the 8100-Series OTDR EVO family of OTDR modules for the OneAdvisor 800 Fiber platform. The 8100D module is designed for testing single-mode standard and hollow core fibers across metro, long-haul and ultra-long-haul networks during installation, turn-up and maintenance.
The module can be connected anywhere on the fiber to characterize the link for commissioning, network upgrades and troubleshooting. Its dead zone performance allows full characterization of element events on a fiber link 2 meters apart, and it is PON-optimized to test through a 1x128 splitter. Automatic traffic detection avoids the risk of live signal interference or damage to the optical transmitter when an OTDR test is started on a fiber carrying traffic.
Standard testing features include automatic macrobend detection, a summary results table with pass/fail analysis and FastReport onboard report generation. Smart Link Mapper (SLM) presents results as a link map to reduce OTDR interpretation errors without extending test time.
According to the datasheet ordering information, the integrated light source and power meter available on other 8100D versions are not available on the E8129D-62.
