Overview

The VIAVI E81162D is the in-service 1625 nm OTDR module of the 8100-Series OTDR EVO family (8100D), designed for the OneAdvisor 800 Fiber platform. The 8100D module is intended for testing single-mode standard and hollow-core fibers across metro, long-haul and ultra-long-haul infrastructures during installation, turn-up and maintenance.

The OTDR EVO family can be connected anywhere on the fiber to characterize single-mode and hollow core fibers for commissioning, network upgrades and troubleshooting. Dead zone performance allows full characterization of element events on a fiber link that are 2 meters apart, and automatic traffic detection avoids the risk of live signal interference or damage to the optical transmitter when an OTDR test is performed on an in-service fiber.

Smart Link Mapper (SLM) reduces OTDR interpretation errors without compromising test time. Standard testing features include automatic macrobend detection, a summary results table with pass/fail analysis and FastReport onboard report generation.

The E81162D is a 1625 nm-only version; according to the manufacturer's ordering information, the integrated light source and power meter are not available on this version.
