Overview

The Luna HXC56yn Online Sensor Head extends the standard online sensor head (HXC55yn) with a virtual reference surface (VRS). It acquires reflection measurements of thickness, multi-layer thickness, basis weight and density.

The VRS enables non-contact, calibrationless caliper thickness measurement, as well as basis weight and density measurement, without reducing the open separation between the sensor and the product.

The transmitter and receiver are mounted inside a sealed metal housing. The transceiver umbilical carries the electrical and optical connections and uses high-flex-rated electrical cable to support continuous scanning.

The sensor head operates with a T-Ray 5000 Control Unit, which provides the waveform response needed for detailed reflection measurement of layered surfaces.
