Overview
The ODiSI 6108 is the eight-channel configuration of the ODiSI 610x models in the Luna ODiSI 6000 Series of high-definition fiber optic sensing (HD-FOS) interrogators. Working with sensors based on unaltered optical fiber and measuring Rayleigh backscatter, the system acquires strain and temperature with a gage pitch as fine as 0.65 mm, providing detailed mapping of strain and temperature profiles. The manufacturer lists the ODiSI 6000 Series as discontinued; the replacement product is the ODiSI 7100 Series.
The ODiSI 610x models can be configured to measure strain or temperature with a gage pitch of 0.65 mm, 1.3 mm, 2.6 mm or 5.2 mm. In standard mode, with Standard Remote Modules, each channel supports an HD-FOS sensor up to 20 m in length or a continuous fiber grating (CFG) sensor up to 15 m. With the optional Extended Range Remote Modules, each channel supports sensors up to 100 m in length as well as HD-SC strain-compensated temperature sensors.
Sensors
HD strain sensors use polyimide-coated fiber with a diameter of 155 µm, are NIST-traceable calibrated and are supplied with calibrated scaling coefficients and a reference key for plug-and-play operation. HD-SC temperature sensors use an advanced interrogation mode to improve accuracy when the sensors are subjected to strain, as in embedded and surface-mount installations. CFG sensors, with fiber Bragg gratings continuously inscribed along the fiber, offer increased tolerance to vibration and improved dynamic performance.
Software and integration
The system includes ODiSI application software for sensor identification and configuration, real-time plotting versus length or time, data logging, replay and export. ODiSI Remote software for Windows and Linux allows control and live viewing from a networked computer. Integration features include IEEE 1588 PTP time synchronization, a JSON-based streaming data format, a TTL sync output and start/stop triggering. Optional 3DViz software maps real-time or saved data onto 3D CAD models or 2D images.
