Overview

The ODiSI 6008 is the eight-channel model of the ODiSI 600x line in Luna's ODiSI 6000 Series of optical distributed sensor interrogators. It works on the principle of measuring Rayleigh backscatter in low-cost, unaltered optical fiber. This lets it acquire strain and temperature continuously along each sensor, so a structure or process can be mapped in detail rather than measured at a few discrete points.

The ODiSI 600x models measure with a standard gage pitch of 5.2 mm, and the maximum aggregate measurement rate is 30 Hz. In standard mode with Standard Remote Modules, each channel supports a high-definition sensor up to 20 m long or a continuous fiber grating (CFG) sensor up to 15 m long. With the optional Extended Range Remote Modules, each channel supports sensors up to 100 m long as well as HD-SC strain-compensated temperature sensors.

Software and integration

The system ships with ODiSI application software running on a Linux-based controller. The software is used to identify and configure sensors, view real-time data, log measurements and replay saved files. Data can be streamed in real time over Ethernet using a JSON-based format. Integration features include IEEE 1588 PTP time synchronization, a TTL sync output and start/stop triggering. ODiSI Remote software for Windows and Linux allows remote control and viewing. Optional 3DViz software maps the data onto 3D CAD models or 2D images.

Luna lists the ODiSI 6000 Series as discontinued and names the ODiSI 7100 Series as its replacement.
