Overview
The Luna ODiSI 6004 is the four-channel configuration of the ODiSI 600x models in the ODiSI 6000 Series of optical distributed sensor interrogators. The system measures strain and temperature along low-cost, unaltered optical fiber sensors by measuring Rayleigh backscatter, providing distributed strain and temperature profiles along each sensor. Luna lists the ODiSI 6000 Series as discontinued, with the ODiSI 7100 Series named as its replacement.
The ODiSI 600x models measure strain or temperature with a standard gage pitch of 5.2 mm, at a maximum measurement rate of 30 Hz. They work with high-definition (HD) Rayleigh strain and temperature sensors and with continuous fiber grating (CFG) sensors. With the optional Extended Range Remote Modules, each channel supports sensors up to 100 m long as well as HD-SC strain-compensated temperature sensors.
System and software
The system includes the mainframe, an instrument controller laptop running the ODiSI application software, and one standoff cable and standard-length remote module per channel. The software identifies and configures sensors, displays real-time data plotted against length or time, and logs, replays and exports measurement data. Data can be streamed in real time to a file or over TCP-IP to another computer. ODiSI Remote software for Windows and Linux provides remote control and viewing, and the optional 3DViz software maps data onto 3D CAD models or 2D images.
Integration and reliability
Integration features include IEEE 1588 PTP network time synchronization, a JSON-based digital streaming data format, a TTL sync output pulse, and start and stop triggering. Optical alignment and calibration run continuously with every scan without user intervention, and strain sensors are calibrated with NIST-traceable fixtures.
