Overview
The FFP-TF and FFP-TF2 are tunable filters from Luna Innovations based on a patented Fiber Fabry-Perot (FFP) design. Each consists of an all-fiber Fabry-Perot super-cavity in a fast-tuning package, combining high finesse with low insertion loss.
The filter uses a lensless all-fiber construction with no collimating optics or lenses. This avoids problems found in other Fabry-Perot component technologies, such as misalignment, environmental sensitivity and extraneous modes.
The filter response follows the Airy function, so system designers can integrate it into OEM systems and expect results very close to the theoretical model.
The FFP-TF2 design improves etalon alignment for long-term stability and reliability, and is Telcordia-qualified. Several standard configurations are available, and custom multi-band configurations can be supplied for specialized applications.
