Overview

The Anritsu MA24340A is a microwave CW USB power sensor that provides fast, accurate average power measurements from 10 MHz to 40 GHz over 90 dB of dynamic range. It is a member of the MA243x0A series, which employs a single-path diode architecture, and connects to the device under test through a K(m) connector. Digital processing in the sensor supports measurement speeds of more than 2,100 continuous power readings per second and more than 5,600 buffered readings per second.

A low-noise design removes the need to zero the sensor before taking measurements for most applications, and the 1 mW reference calibration step is also eliminated. Internal and external triggering supports time-based measurements, and a list mode speeds up automated test sequences. External trigger latching handles pulses as narrow as 20 ns.

Control and software

The sensor is controlled from a PC through remote programming commands or with PowerXpert, a free software application supplied by Anritsu. It is also compatible with most Anritsu RF and microwave handheld instruments; the high accuracy power meter software option (for example Option 19) may be required on the handheld.

Durability

Damage protection of +26 dBm CW and +32 dBm peak for pulses shorter than 10 µs, combined with a removable silicone protective covering, gives the sensor increased ruggedness in field use. Calibrations are NIST traceable and traceable to SI units through national metrology institutes.
