Overview

The Anritsu BERTWave MP2110A is an all-in-one instrument that combines a sampling oscilloscope for Eye pattern analysis with a BERT (Bit Error Rate Tester). It is designed for R&D and manufacturing inspection of 10G to 1.6T multichannel optical modules and devices, including 200G/lane modules used in 800G and 1.6T transmission.

Up to four BERT channels and four oscilloscope channels can be installed in one unit. All channels can be measured simultaneously, for example for a quad-lane QSFP module, or individually in parallel for several single-lane modules. BER results and Eye pattern analysis are shown on screen at the same time, and setting one channel sets all channels.

Sampling Oscilloscope

The oscilloscope supports NRZ and PAM4 analysis, including Mask Margin, TDECQ and jitter analysis through software options. Scope modules cover 25/35 GHz optical, 60 GHz optical and 40 GHz electrical channels. Optional built-in Clock Recovery Units (Options x54 and x55) generate the trigger clock from the data signal when no trigger signal is available.

BERT

The built-in PPG/ED operates from 24.3 Gbit/s to 28.2 Gbit/s as standard, extendable to 9.5 Gbit/s to 14.2 Gbit/s with Option x93, covering applications such as 10 GbE, 100 GbE, Fibre Channel, InfiniBand, CPRI and OTN.

Built-in PC

A built-in Windows PC handles measurement processing, so no external PC controller is required. Remote commands are backwards-compatible with the BERTWave series, such as the MP2100B.
