Overview
The VIAVI DWDM OTDR Module (4100-Series) is a single-module C-band DWDM OTDR test solution for the T-BERD/MTS-2000, -4000 V2, -5800, CellAdvisor 5G and OneAdvisor 800 platforms. It performs end-to-end link characterization and troubleshooting through MUX/DEMUX of newly deployed or active DWDM and hybrid CWDM/DWDM networks.
The module tunes across ITU-T G.694.1 wavelengths from C62 to C12 (1527.99 nm to 1567.95 nm) and supports 50 GHz, 100 GHz and 200 GHz channel spacing. A tunable filter version is available. Testing through the MUX and common (test) ports allows faulty links to be troubleshot without disrupting traffic on active channels, and instantaneous traffic detection is built in.
An integrated CW light source with modulation capability is used to verify end-to-end continuity through MUX/DEMUX and ROADMs before service turn-up. The patented WaveScan option automatically identifies and tests the DWDM port channel or link, and the SFP Protect option helps avoid accidental transceiver damage. The optional Smart Link Mapper (SLM) presents an icon-based view of the fiber link with splices, connectors and MUX/DEMUX components.
The module is intended for cable, mobile and telecommunications operators working on C-RAN and mobile fronthaul access networks, passive DWDM networks for cable business services, metro and access rings, and next-generation FTTH networks. Combined with VIAVI CWDM OTDR modules it covers hybrid CWDM/DWDM networks, and combined with VIAVI Ethernet/CPRI/100G/400G test platforms it forms a broader field test solution.
Platform testing features
Standard platform features include auto-setting of acquisition parameters, a summary results table with pass/fail analysis according to international standards, comprehensive event diagnosis and FastReport onboard report generation.
