Overview

The VIAVI Secure uPNT Fury GPSDO is a GPS disciplined oscillator that combines a GPS timing receiver with an OCXO in a single module. It serves as a low phase noise, low Allan deviation frequency and time reference, providing 1 PPS, 10 MHz and NMEA outputs.

A DOCXO (double oven) variant extends holdover capability for operation in GNSS-denied environments or for extended periods without GNSS signals. In holdover mode the unit applies automatic compensation for OCXO aging and temperature coefficient.

Receiver

In 2019 the Fury GNSS receiver was upgraded with the M12M Replacement Receiver, creating the Super Fury GPSDO. It tracks GPS, Glonass, Galileo, BeiDou, SBAS and QZSS (three concurrent constellations) with 72 channels and tracking down to -167 dBm, and adds internal USB configuration and monitoring support along with a reduced time-to-first-fix. Fury firmware revision 1.23 (2020) addresses a holdover issue specific to the Super Fury GNSS module; units with the original Motorola M12M receiver module are not affected.

Control and packaging

The unit is operated from an LCD and keypad or over RS-232 using standard SCPI commands, with settings stored in non-volatile memory. It is compatible with the GPSCon Windows graphing and SNTP server software, and is available as an OEM module or in an aluminum desktop enclosure.
