VIAVI TM500 Cloud Cloud-Deployed O-RAN UE Emulator and Test Tool

The VIAVI TM500 Cloud is an O-RAN development and test tool deployed in the cloud. It is intended for network equipment manufacturers, service providers and hyperscalers that need to confirm cloud-hosted O-RAN network components meet the performance and quality expectations set by traditional RAN deployments.

Once those expectations are met, TM500 Cloud is used to check that the components stay consistent and reliable when the network carries variable traffic under changing conditions. It helps verify that cloud deployments meet the QoS metrics required by service level agreements.

Deployment

TM500 Cloud is a software-only, containerised UE emulator that runs on standard COTS servers that meet its resource requirements. It runs in private, hybrid and public clouds as well as in the customer's own orchestration environment, and it scales up or down according to the requirements of the system under test. O-DU and O-CU components can be tested with or without a real core network.

TM500 Cloud has completed the AWS Foundational Technical Review (FTR), which applies AWS best practices for security, reliability and operational excellence as defined by the AWS Well-Architected Framework.

TM500 family

TM500 Cloud is based on TM500 technology and carries over the KPI metrics, performance and stability of the TM500 platform. NEMs use that platform to test and validate gNB software before it is deployed to service providers.
