Overview

The VIAVI OSA-110 Series is a range of compact optical spectrum analyzer (OSA) modules for field use. The modules are housed in the OneAdvisor 800 Fiber platform and cover spectral measurements in CWDM systems in the access network, DWDM systems in the backbone, and high-speed networks up to 800G.

The series is suitable for CWDM and DWDM networks down to 33 GHz channel spacing. Full-band measurement from 1250 to 1650 nm is combined with high optical resolution, supporting tests of power, wavelength, OSNR and drift during provisioning, maintenance and upgrades of WDM systems. A built-in wavelength calibrator provides ±0.05 nm wavelength accuracy.

Versions

The OSA-110M provides the standard feature set. The OSA-110R adds the VIAVI in-band measurement technique to measure true OSNR in ROADM-based networks and high-speed transmission systems with tight channel spacing. A high-power version, the OSA-110H, measures up to +30 dBm for CATV applications.

Operation

Testing is driven from a graphical touchscreen interface with automatic pass/fail analysis. Analysis modes include WDM, drift, DFB, OO-OSNR and, on the OSA-110R, in-band OSNR.
