Overview

The VIAVI OneExpert HFC ONXF-720-PON-42-204-TSX is a new-unit package in the OneExpert HFC (ONX-720/730) family. It pairs the ONX-720 mainframe and its TSX software package with a PON Selective Optical Power Meter, a Visual Fault Locator, and the ONX-CATV-D31-S-4220-1012 DOCSIS 3.1 module (42/204 MHz upstream, 1.0/1.2 GHz downstream).

The ONX-720/730 platform tests DOCSIS, Ethernet, PON and WiFi 7 throughput at up to 10 Gbps. Test Process Automation (TPA) and the OneCheck workflows run guided, one-button pass/fail tests for Ethernet, WiFi, PON and DOCSIS, and save geo-tagged results.

Optical testing

The PON selective power meter measures coexistent PON wavelengths separately through a dedicated SC/APC port. It can read the PON-ID to confirm the connection to the expected OLT. The optional TruePON software checks total optical loss, PON-ID, OLT connectivity and received power against the ODN class. A 1 mW VFL is built in, and USB fiber scopes with automatic pass/fail analysis are supported.

DOCSIS and RF

The ONX-720/730 continues the RF and DOCSIS test functions of the ONX-620/630 and works with the existing ONX RF modules. It covers downstream and upstream analysis, OFDM signal metrics and ingress scanning, and it supports forward and reverse sweep with the SCU-1800.

Platform

The unit is IP54 rated, drop-tested and modular, with a path to 25G/50G PON and DOCSIS 4.0. It has integrated GPS, StrataSync support, a mobile app connection over Bluetooth, and a field-replaceable 96 W/hr battery.
