Overview
VIAVI TestCenter is a Layer 2-7 test software environment designed for flexible, portable test cases that run on both hardware and virtual platforms. The environment can be customised to specific test requirements, with the aim of shortening test cycles for network equipment and services.
TestCenter IQ adds analytics, reporting and visualisation of the dynamic behaviour of systems under test. User-definable health indicators, correlated protocol and DUT events, and historical time series data support isolation and presentation of issues during and after a test run.
Automation
All TestCenter features are accessible through its native API, which offers libraries for Python, Tcl, Perl, Java, C, C#, C++ and Ruby, plus a RESTful API delivered as a service on the VIAVI LabServer or a local machine. TestCenter supports the OTG (Open Traffic Generator) and gNMI (gRPC Network Management Interface) APIs, integrates with open-source frameworks such as ONDATRA, snappi and gosnappi, and supports HLTAPI and Cisco pyATS. For SONiC environments, TestCenter integrates with SpyTest, snappi/OTG and Ondatra/OpenConfig and is validated against the open-source sonic-mgmt project.
TestCenter+ and AI integration
TestCenter+ is a web-based platform for test deployment, collaboration and resource management. The TestCenter Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server, part of the VIAVI NITRO AI portfolio, allows AI agents to configure, execute, monitor and analyse TestCenter tests through natural language.
Optional test packages
Additional packages extend the platform, including Enhanced L4-7 for stateful application traffic over emulated topologies, MACsec for IEEE 802.1AE validation, and Autonomous Flow Tracking for monitoring millions of network flows per test.
