Overview
The VIAVI Small Cell Assurance Solution covers the lifecycle of small cell backhaul, from service activation through performance assurance, monitoring and optimization. It combines the Fusion platform with JMEP smart SFP probes.
The solution automates the backhaul service activation test and provides network visibility at aggregation points in the network. This reduces test time, avoids field dispatches and gives operators key network performance indicators.
Because the probes deploy in existing network equipment, the solution removes the need for external instrumentation, which saves space and power. It is designed to help mobile operators speed up rollout and handle the backhaul networking issues that small cells introduce.
Components
PacketPortal JMEP and Intelligent Visibility (IV) SFProbes install in existing network equipment such as NodeB/eNodeB and cell site routers. NetComplete EtherASSURE service-aware OSS and the QT600 centralized test probe work with the PacketPortal SFProbes in the backhaul network to automate service activation and performance monitoring tests.
Key Features
- Network segmentation to locate quality issues between mobile backhaul networks
- Service and network performance monitoring with identification of sources of performance issues
- Service performance insight within MPLS, VPLS and EPIPE backhaul tunnels using PacketPortal content inspection at hub cell site routers
- PacketPortal SFProbes support plug-and-play operation without complex software integration with 3rd party equipment
- PacketPortal SFProbes deployable in mobile base stations and cell site routers
- Support for RFC2544, Y.1564 and Y.1731 benchmark test methodologies
- One-way latency measurement with nanosecond resolution without impacting network performance
- Automated backhaul test and turn up
- Monitoring of backhaul network service level agreements
