Overview
The VIAVI J9009A is the premium configuration of the NITRO Core Traffic Storage Agent (TSA) with 12 x 4TB storage, supplied as 1AC/1DC. TSA is a data access agent for NITRO Core that passively monitors control- and user-plane IP traffic and TDM to generate metrics on network, service and customer KPIs (SMARTmetrics). These metrics can feed NITRO Core or third-party KPI applications.
Traffic capture and indexing
TSA captures control-plane traffic frames, writes them to disk and indexes them in real time using a VIAVI-patented indexing method that includes indexing by IMSI, IMEI and MSISDN. Traffic associated with end-user data sessions or calls is supplied to troubleshooting applications on demand, rather than processing all captured traffic continuously.
KPIs and third-party feeds
The agent generates control-plane and user-plane KPIs that drive NITRO Core applications, and provides SMARTmetrics feeds for non-VIAVI applications or data lakes. Feed content can be tailored to output only the data required, and covers both control-plane and user-plane data delivered at timed intervals.
Service and application classification
TSA identifies end-user services and applications using several methods, including a DPI engine with support for more than 5,000 applications. User-plane records are enriched with service, APN/5G slice, handset, location and subscriber information.
