Overview
The VIAVI J9003D is the base configuration of the NITRO Core Traffic Storage Agent (TSA), with 1AC/1DC power and 12 x 4TB storage. TSA is a data access agent for NITRO Core that passively monitors control-plane and user-plane IP traffic and TDM to generate network, service and customer KPIs (SMARTmetrics). The metrics can feed NITRO Core or third-party KPI applications.
Traffic processing
TSA captures control-plane traffic frames, writes them to disk and indexes them in real time. Indexing is by IMSI, IMEI and MSISDN, so traffic tied to specific end-user sessions or calls can be retrieved on demand for transaction-tracing troubleshooting instead of processing all captured traffic continuously.
Third-party feeds and classification
Beyond NITRO Core applications, TSA can send SMARTmetrics to non-VIAVI third-party applications or data lakes. Operators can tailor the feed content, and feeds cover both control-plane and user-plane data delivered at timed intervals. A DPI engine identifies end-user services and applications, with support for 5,000+ applications. User-plane records are enriched with service, APN/5G slice, handset, location and subscriber information.
Use cases
TSA supports real-time monitoring of network, service and customer KPIs, and troubleshooting of mobile network, service and customer performance faults. Troubleshooting uses KPI-based workflows in the CEA and Performance Explorer apps, together with traditional transaction tracing such as the NITRO Core Session Trace app.
