VIAVI INX 700 Series INX-764 Automated Fiber Inspection Probe Microscope with Wireless and 50Wh Battery

The VIAVI INX-764 is a member of the INX 700 Probe Microscope series for inspecting single-fiber, duplex and multifiber connector end faces. It automates each step of the inspection process: test setup, tip configuration, image panning and focus, end-face analysis and results storage. Results can be stored on the device or sent to the VIAVI TPA (Test Process Automation) ecosystem.

The INX-764 combines Bluetooth-initiated WiFi wireless connectivity and USB-C wired connectivity with a quick-swap, extended-capacity 50Wh battery system. The battery can be charged outside the microscope, so a spare can be swapped in for continued operation.

AutoID inspection tips

The microscope uses the FPT series of stainless-steel inspection tips. Each tip has AutoID technology, which configures the microscope for the connector type under test and recalls the last Analysis Profile used with that tip. Tips are available for simplex, duplex and multifiber connectors and attach with a fast-threading coupling collar.

PanOptic Imaging Engine

The PanOptic Imaging Engine provides an edge-to-edge field of view without reducing magnification or resolution. On multifiber MT ferrules it captures a wide view that shows the alignment pins and guide holes, as well as detailed images of each fiber in the array. Both fibers of a duplex connector are inspected in a single test, with a side-by-side view and analysis. Image analysis uses classical algorithms for standard cases and AI-augmented analysis for more complex inspections, against IEC 61300-3-35 edition 2, edition 3 or custom criteria.

Field design

The tips thread onto a steel chassis that protects the optical system. The housing has a textured, ergonomic handle that can be gripped with or without gloves, and an energy-absorbing overmold. A 2.4 in glove-compatible touch display, an action wheel, a trigger and a status LED band support one-handed operation.
