Overview
ACTS (Advanced Communication Test System) is server software from VIAVI for testing advanced communication services on cable systems, including VoIP and high-speed data. It works with the Original and New DSP family of field analyzers through a proprietary connection, so a technician can run tests from any field test point.
The VoIP RTP test can run with or without Unsolicited Grant Service (UGS). It is used to verify service before installation and reports upstream and downstream latency, jitter, packet loss and MOS.
The throughput test lets the user configure the communication ports and does not write files to the server's hard drive. Several field units can connect to the system at the same time to run throughput or VoIP tests. The datasheet lists support for DOCSIS 3.0 (4x4) and (8x4) modems.
