Overview

The Nicslab Multiconnector M3 is a passive interconnect board (type 3) that sits between a main XPOW or XDAC system and a device under test (DUT). It provides 40 channel outputs intended for applications that use banana connectors.

Each channel is broken out to a 4 mm banana female socket and also to 2.54 mm pin headers, so a DUT with banana-plug inputs or one with a pin-header input can be connected from the same board. Dedicated CONF pin headers allow the channel and GND assignments to be remapped away from the factory default without modifying the main system.

The connectors that link the board to the main system are pre-wired at the factory, with GND and the corresponding channel outputs already mapped. Ground checkpoints and per-channel output checkpoints allow each output to be verified with a multimeter without disconnecting the cabling.

Usage

A DUT with banana-plug inputs can be connected directly to any available banana socket (CH1–CH40), with the matching channel selected in the control GUI. A DUT with a 2.54 mm pin-header input can be wired from the X1–X40 or Y1–Y40 pin headers in the factory-default configuration, with GND provided via the corresponding CONF and checkpoint pins.

Key Features

  • 40 channels broken out to 4 mm banana female sockets (point A, X1–X40)
  • Dual output options per channel: banana socket (point A) or 2.54 mm pin header (points B and C)
  • Dedicated CONF reconfiguration pin headers (points D and E) to remap channel/GND assignments
  • Ground checkpoints (2 pins, points I/J) and per-channel output checkpoints (point H, 1–40) for multimeter verification without disconnecting cabling
  • Direct pass-through connectors (points K/L) to the main XPOW/XDAC system, factory pre-wired
  • Compact, passive PCB with no external power required beyond what passes through from the main system
  • Supports both banana-connector and pin-header DUT connections from a single board
