Overview
The Luna os7230 is a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) based optical accelerometer in the os7200 series. It uses FBG technology to measure vibration events, and it can share a fiber with sensors for other physical parameters such as strain, temperature, displacement, pressure and tilt. The sensors can be spread over tens of kilometers of fiber and built into monitoring systems.
The os7230 has a 5 to 1000 Hz frequency range and a sensitivity of 90 pm/g. It mounts with a standard M6 thread. Mounting blocks are available for two-axis and three-axis configurations. The sensor has a sealed stainless steel body and Kevlar armored cables for use in harsh environments. The manufacturer offers a radiation-hardened variant of the os7230.
Up to 128 os7200-series sensors can run on one Luna HYPERION instrument. The sensors work with ENLIGHT Sensing Analysis Software, which handles data acquisition, computation and analysis for optical sensor networks. They also work with the HYPERION platform's Application Programming Interface (API), which comes with examples in LabVIEW, Python, Matlab, C++ and C#.
