Luna os7220 FBG Optical Accelerometer (10 pm/g, 5 to 2000 Hz)

The os7220 is a member of Luna's os7200 series of fiber Bragg grating (FBG) based optical accelerometers. Within the series, the os7220 covers the widest frequency range (5 to 2000 Hz) and the highest measurement range (±200 g), with a sensitivity of 10 pm/g. Each sensor is individually calibrated.

Because it is based on FBG technology, the os7220 can share the same fiber optic cable with sensors for other physical parameters such as strain, temperature, displacement, pressure and tilt. The sensors can be spread over tens of kilometers of fiber and integrated into monitoring systems.

The sensor mounts with a standard M5 threaded connection, and mounting blocks are available for two- and three-axis configurations. The sealed stainless steel body is rated IP67, and the Kevlar armored cables are intended for deployment in harsh environments.

Interrogation and software

Up to 128 os7200 sensors can be read by a single 16-channel HYPERION si255 instrument, with 8 sensors per channel. The series is compatible with ENLIGHT Sensing Analysis Software for data acquisition, computation and analysis of optical sensor networks. The HYPERION Application Programming Interface (API) is also supported, with examples in LabVIEW, Python, Matlab, C++ and C#.
