Luna os4500 Series Multipoint High Temperature FBG Probes

The Luna os4500 series Multipoint High Temperature Probes are sealed stainless steel tubes intended to make handling easy and sensor installation fast and repeatable in demanding environments. The probes use femtosecond grating technology. No epoxies hold the fiber to the tube, so long-term stability is built into the design.

In side-by-side comparisons with conventional thermocouples, the os4500 is equally sensitive and accurate. It also offers sub-second response time, a wider operating range, no need for calibration and no EMI noise. The probe is qualified for use in harsh environments and shares the general advantages of FBG-based sensors.

The sensor can be used alone or in series at the end of an FBG sensor array. Installing and cabling such arrays is less expensive and less cumbersome than for comparable electronic gage networks. Package options include versions that work like conventional thermocouples, with armored cables and protected connectors, and small probes that combine installation flexibility with sub-second response time.

Software

The os4500 series works with ENLIGHT Sensing Analysis Software, an integrated suite of tools for acquiring, computing and analyzing data from optical sensor networks. It also works with the HYPERION platform's Application Programming Interface (API), which comes with examples in LabVIEW, Python, Matlab, C++ and C#.
