Overview

The HTS40n1 Transmitter Type 1 is a fiber-coupled terahertz sensor head for the Luna T-Ray® 5000, a compact pulsed terahertz measurement system in a rack mount package designed for deployment in industrial environments. The T-Ray 5000 uses replaceable sensor heads, so the system can be configured for a specific application.

The HTS40n1 provides high output power with high spectral bandwidth. Its enhanced low frequencies give higher material penetration for imaging voids and disbonds in high-frequency scattering media. When paired with an HRS40n1 receiver, the transmitter provides bandwidth above 3.5 THz and a signal-to-noise ratio above 70 dB.

Because it maximizes low-frequency power, the HTS40n1 suits applications that need high material penetration for imaging, particularly in scattering or absorbing materials. The fiber-coupled sensor heads work in either reflection or transmission mode and deliver a picosecond-duration time-domain terahertz pulse, so scanned images can be produced at high speed.
