Overview
The NTC NoTail Drop-In Coupler is a connectorized single-mode fiber coupler from the General Photonics passive component line, now part of Luna. It has no fiber pigtails, so it can be inserted directly into an optical system. This avoids handling fragile, loose pigtails.
The optical path delay between input and output is short, about 30 cm. This helps in systems where the optical path balance matters, such as interferometric systems, ultra-short pulse systems and fiber laser systems. Four strong magnets on the back of the housing hold the coupler temporarily but securely on standard optical tables.
The coupler can be ordered for 1310 nm, 1550 nm or dual-window 1310/1550 nm operation, in a 1x2 or 2x2 port configuration. Several coupling ratios are available, with FC/PC, FC/APC, SC/PC or SC/APC connectors. Luna lists the passive component product group as discontinued.
