Overview
Dirty or damaged optical connectors affect network performance. Contamination, scratches and chips on optical fiber connector end faces reduce transmission quality and increase transmission errors, which leads to additional installation and maintenance work, cost and missed schedules.
The Anritsu G0382A Autofocus Video Inspection Probe verifies the condition and cleanliness of connector end faces during the installation phase, where problems are easily corrected. A complete connector inspection is performed automatically with the press of a button: auto-focus, image centering, analysis and image capture. The detailed pass/fail status as defined by IEC 61300-3-35 is displayed, giving consistent results from connector to connector and technician to technician. An on-board LED shows the result: green for pass, red for fail and blue for activity status.
Supported products
The G0382A connects over USB to the Network Master Pro MT1000A and Network Master Flex MT1100A (firmware version 7.05 or later), where the inspection software is pre-installed, and to Windows PCs running the MX900031A Autofocus VIP Software, which supports Windows 7, 8 and 10. Results can be saved as data files, image files and PDF reports; the PC software also generates Excel reports. The operation manual and MX900031A software are downloadable from the Anritsu website.
Connector tips
Tips are attached to the end of the probe to match the connector or adapter to be inspected. The unit ships with seven tips covering 1.25 mm and 2.5 mm PC and APC patch-cord ferrules and LC, FC and SC bulkhead adapters, and further tips are available as application parts. The H0392A MPO tip does not support the autofocus and pass/fail functions.
