Overview
The Anritsu Mobile InterferenceHunter MX280007A is a system for locating single or multiple sources of RF interference from a moving vehicle. It is designed to handle multiple signal sources, reflections, RF shadows, drifting signals, bursty signals and multi-path, conditions that cause difficulty for conventional direction finding with directional antennas.
The software runs on a Windows tablet or laptop connected to an Anritsu handheld spectrum analyzer with a GPS receiver. It takes and averages many channel power measurements per minute while the vehicle is driven, plotting the results on a map. Because measurements are averaged and based on channel power, multi-path effects are reduced and signals that wander in frequency, such as oscillating cell phone repeaters, can still be tracked.
Area Scan and heat map
In Area Scan mode, the software guides the user towards geographical areas where more data points are needed. Once sufficient measurements have been accumulated, a heat map indicates the estimated position of the interference source, and the map area shrinks as additional measurements refine the estimate.
Post-capture analysis
Captured drive data can be replayed with different search parameters and decision thresholds without re-driving the route, allowing later re-analysis and review by experts. The system also supports a multi-emitter mode for cases such as CATV egress, a spectrum clearing mode with a go/no-go channel power threshold, and hand-offs from Anritsu Remote Spectrum Monitoring systems.
Compatible instruments and maps
The MX280007A works with GPS-enabled Anritsu handheld analyzers including Site Master, Spectrum Master, BTS Master, Cell Master, LMR Master, Field Master, Field Master Pro, VNA Master and Remote Spectrum Monitor platforms, without firmware updates. Map sources include Google Maps, Baidu Maps, downloaded OpenStreetMap data and geo-referenced map image files for off-line use.
