Overview

The Anritsu Signalling Tester MD8475B is an all-in-one base station simulator that reproduces communications between base stations and user equipment (UE). It supports LTE, LTE-Advanced, W-CDMA/HSPA/HSPA Evolution/DC-HSDPA, GSM/GPRS/EGPRS and TD-SCDMA/TD-HSPA, and is used for service, VoLTE and call-processing tests of multimode LTE smartphones and other mobile devices.

The instrument provides up to eight TX and four RX RF ports up to 6 GHz with an integrated RF front end, supporting LTE-Advanced carrier aggregation tests and multi-cell configurations for cell reselection, redirection, handover and CS Fallback. A built-in traffic generator enables IP data throughput evaluation without dependence on external PC performance.

SmartStudio software

The GUI-based SmartStudio MX847570B software configures smartphone test environments without creating test cases or scripting signalling protocols. Parameters such as frequency and control status are set from the GUI to run one-touch tests, including quasi-normal tests that are difficult to run on live networks. A built-in CSCF server supports IMS service tests such as VoLTE and SMS over IMS, and options add IMS supplementary services, RCS, WLAN offload and ePDG functions.

Test automation

SmartStudio Manager MX847503A edits and runs test sequences automatically and continuously, and can control an Android smartphone together with the MD8475B. More than 180 sample sequences are supplied, covering registration, voice, SMS, mobility, IMS and battery-consumption tests, with Pass/Fail results reported alongside the continuous test results.

eCall testing

Combined with the eCall Tester MX703330E software, the MD8475B emulates the PSAP for testing in-vehicle system eCall communications, with options for ERA-GLONASS, NG-eCall and Korean eCall.
