Overview
The Anritsu MT8000A Radio Communication Test Station is a 5G test platform with a base station emulation function. A single MT8000A supports RF measurements, protocol tests and application tests in the FR1 band (up to 7.125 GHz, including band n41) and the FR2 millimeter-wave bands. Combined with an OTA chamber, it performs millimeter-wave RF measurements and beamforming tests using 3GPP-specified call connections. A state-machine-based GUI supports application tests such as handover and quasi-normal or abnormal network tests, and maximum IP data throughput can be measured for many band, CA and MIMO combinations.
FR3 support
An RF hardware option extends the platform to the 7.125 GHz to 16 GHz range of the FR3 spectrum, which is expected to be adopted for 6G, in addition to FR1 and FR2.
Modular architecture
The instrument uses a modular architecture. Non-signalling and signalling RF TRx measurements and protocol tests run on the common hardware by switching the test application. It supports 4x4 MIMO and 8CA for eMBB, and is designed to accommodate URLLC and mMTC test requirements.
LTE, DSS, NTN and RedCap
The MT8000A can be linked with Anritsu LTE test platforms such as the MT8821C, MD8430A and MD8475B to simulate 5G NSA operation, or build an LTE test environment on its own. It measures throughput under Dynamic Spectrum Sharing at several NR/LTE allocation conditions, supports RF and protocol testing under propagation delay and Doppler shift conditions for 5G NTN as defined in 3GPP Release 17 and later, and supports RF, protocol and application testing under RedCap conditions.
Base station manufacturing
With the MX800045A and MX800046A software, the MT8000A serves as a non-signaling RF test solution for 5G base station production lines. Up to four TRx ports allow simultaneous and parallel measurements, and FR2 measurements are supported with the MA80003A RF Converter.
