Overview
The Anritsu 5P100C is the CATV model of the CMA5 Series optical power meters, a compact handheld unit for attenuation and power throughput measurements on point-to-point fiber optic links during installation and maintenance. Its measurement range extends from –50 dBm up to +23 dBm, covering the high optical power levels found in CATV networks.
The meter is calibrated at 850 and 1300 nm for datacom testing, at 1310, 1550 and 1625 nm for WDM testing, and at 1490 nm for FTTx testing, and works with both single-mode and multimode fiber. An InGaAs photodetector, user-replaceable FC, SC and ST connector adapters and 2 kHz modulation detection for fiber identification are provided.
The instrument has a rugged design, weighs 250 g and uses a 4-digit, 7-segment LCD. It is powered by a single 9 V alkaline battery, giving at least 40 hours of operation, or by an optional AC adapter. Auto-zeroing, a reference setting function, a battery level display and automatic power-off simplify measurements in the field.
