Overview
The Anritsu 5P100 is the standard model of the CMA5 Series optical power meters. It is a compact handheld unit for attenuation and power throughput measurements on point-to-point fiber optic links during fiber installation and maintenance (I&M).
The meter uses an InGaAs photodetector and accepts both single-mode and multimode fiber. It is calibrated at 850 and 1300 nm for datacom testing, at 1310, 1550 and 1625 nm for WDM testing, and at 1490 nm for FTTx testing. The standard 5P100 measures from –60 to +10 dBm. The CATV model, 5P100C, covers higher power levels.
The unit has a rugged design, a 4-digit 7-segment LCD, auto-zeroing, 2 kHz modulation (tone) detection, a reference setting function, a battery level display and automatic power-off. It runs on one 9 V alkaline battery for at least 40 hours, or on an optional AC adapter. It weighs 250 g, and its connector adapters (FC, SC or ST) can be replaced by the user.
